Full Moon v3.2.1
Full Moon v3.2.1
(151 customer ratings)
543539
Free
Displays a large icon with the current phase of the moon. By clicking the moon you can also see a calendar showing the phase for any date. Great for planning a camping trip during a full moon or a weekend of astronomy with a new moon!

Use decimal degrees to enter your longitude if you wish to use the sidereal clock. For example, San Jose, cA is 121° 56' W which in decimal degrees is -121.93.

Note that the sidereal clock hands use a soft alpha channel glow effect. If you run your video card lower than 24-bit color then the glow on the hands will probably look pixelated.

v3.2.1 Changes

- Corrected orientation of moon image
- Added (degrees) note to Longitude field

v3.2 Changes

- Uses accurate algorithm for calculating phases instead of simple approximation

Nice gadget (7/3/2007)
For those that havent figured out how to move the gadget, dont click on the moon. Instead drag with the the little tab on the top-right corner that appears when you place your mouse over it.

Great little gadget! (2/27/2008)
I use it mainly for nightime photography and knowing when there will be a full or new moon can be important. Clean, attractive interface and not full of overly technical astronomical data about the moon. The one thing that buged me was that you cannot drag the moon to move it as others have noted. I fixed that by editing the package. All you need to do is change the onclick event in the moon.html file to an ondblclick. So now a double click brings up the calendar view and dragging the moon works! If the author is reading this give it a shot, you might find it an acceptable solution (or not.

Very nice ... agree with PMS Tracker (9/11/2009)
Totally agree with Pachyderm... :D It would be a nice Idea, to put an option with GMT Clock and Date, avoiding the use of other gadgets to that purpose.

yeah it's pretty cool. i could always just look out the window though..you know...pry myself away from the laptop long enough to actually GO SEE what phase the moon is in.

nice but missing one bit (10/24/2007)
A very cool item that's neat to look at, all that's missing is a percentage thing so you can tell when it's ALL the way full not just ALLMOST full. and RobertFranhugher: you must not live a happy life, how does this incurage superstition? even if I wasn't a pagan I'd want this, cause the moon is beautiful.
