Hate it
One issue (8/7/2007)
I uninstalled it due to MS Outlook wanting me to grant permission for it to access Outlook files. There seems to be no way to give it permanent access so it had to go.

1 small annoyance (5/28/2007)
Everytime this gadget refreshes - I get the Outlook pup-up asking me if i want to allow it. How do I disable this pop-up? Or at least allow it permanantly (there is no option to do so in the pop-up).

How to fix Outlook's Permission: (11/25/2007)
Geesh, only took me 5 minutes to Google the answer for this one, but here's the "fix" to stop Outlook asking to grant permission for this gadget: 1. Open Outlook. 2. Click on "Tools" on toolbar. 3. Click on "Trust Center" on pop-up menu. 4. Click on "Programmatic Access" in left-side panel. 5. Select "Never warn me about suspicious activity (not recommended)". 6. Click on "Ok". And now, you're done. Just be sure to run a GOOD, TRUSTED antivirus and you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Also, there's a great little thing out on the internet called a "search engine", such as Google. Try using it sometime. Might save some of you some frustrations. This is just another example of laziness, such as searching about Vista's UAC.

Outlook 2003 Issue: Is there a way to fix Outlook's permissions for Outlook 2*0*0*3? (3/6/2009)
I'm running the vista sidebar on windows xp, while also still using the 2003 microsoft office suite. There isn't a "Trust Center" in Outlook 2003 to make the settings changes outlined in other coments. Their is also nowhere that I can find within security settings to disable ¨tell me about other programs that is trying to send and receive emails. Advice?

Works ok (7/27/2009)
After installing and clicking the icon that should open the requested inbox folder, nothing happens. Everything else seems to be working ok. Definitely better than some of the other gadgets that features you will never use.

Fails to Function Properly (6/20/2009)
Sidebar Outlook has the potential to be a valuable gadget, providing that it functioned properly. I am hopeful that someone can help me as my problem may only be due to settings. I hope. -- Sidebar gadget opens, functions properly, than freezes. If I obtain a new e-mail, & reply to it using this tool the email sends perfectly but gadget freezes after. After program freezes I cannot click the mailings to bring up what they say or reply to any. Nor can I obtain new messages. I am having to restart the program entirely only to go though the same freezing behavior every time I respond to a single note. -- Could this be settings & if yes how do I change these. I need instant sidebar e-mail from outlook as all my business is outlook based responses. Thanks

Good (1/8/2009)
I have experienced the allow outlook popup just a few times - i got rid of it by closing and reopening the gadget. Apart from that its great, the best looking of the sidebar outlook gadgets - just 1 problem for me. I get group emails alot and when viewing in this gadget it only displays me as the recipient - when viewed in outlook it was actually sent to all staff and not imporant that i read it.
