At last, a genuinely free reader that works! (12/29/2007)
For a start, this is or at least appears to be genuinely free, unlike some of the other supposed free readers listed here that are actually shareware. The gadget is compact and lets you add a number of feeds. The feeds look to update without having to have a browser open (e.g. the built in RSS feed gadget needs IE running fr it to update :-( ) and for me the scroll speed is fine but I guess having that customisable would be version 1.1!!! Other things that I think would be essential 1.1 features: * Double click on a headline in the scroll area should open the page directly (at the moment it opens the preview window and from there you link to the story) Would be nice features: * Be able to run multiple gadgets with different feeds in each * Limit the number of stories if you want per feed * Customise what takes away the new flag (e.g. when you have read the story or after 30 minutes etc.) All in all very good, thanks!

Auto scroll (4/6/2008)
I love the auto scroll function. The problem of the default RSS reader is the side bar is never wide enough to display the whole title.

Love the Reader - Nice Job (4/5/2008)
Hey Christina, like the others, let me say NICE JOB, I love the reader :-) I have a question as to whether it would be easy to "Search" the text that accompanies the Title? I am finding that I can't find anything any feed items when searching for the text under the title. For example, if I add Outlook 2007 as a feed and then search for Outlook 2007, I find all the articles and the text below one of the items has "Personal" in the description. I can't search and find that particular feed item, I can only search for text in the title of that feed item. I hope I made sense, I kind of talked myself into a circle.

The Best of its Kind (1/3/2008)
This is just what I needed: an RSS reader gadget that is compact (display as many headlines as possible without showing things like feed names and number of feeds), displays complete headlines, and auto-scrolls the headlines. I personally also second jmmaury71's suggestions, especially the ability to double-click a headline to open its page. One more suggestion: when the gadget is loaded, check for connection status every 1 minute for instance instead of 20 minutes (the default update interval for a feed). Since My PC does not connect to the Internet automatically, the gadget does not show any headlines after loading, and would only refresh itself after 20 minutes. Of course I could set a smaller update interval for each feed to get around this, but this would unnecessarily consume server bandwidth. It would be great to check for connection status based on a different interval. Overall, excellent.

Excellent (1/14/2008)
A great gadget. Works just fine, and beats all the others hands down. Just a few minor spelling mistakes in the GUI, such as 'Scroll speed' not having a <space>between it, and 'trough' istead of 'through' in the Connections tab. Just thought i'd let you know =)

Very Very Good - A couple minor issues (1/8/2008)
The best sidebar RSS gadget so far. Beats the default one and others by miles. There are a couple of minor issues: 1. It doesn't seem to remember its size when Windows re-starts 2. In the company where I work, we access the internet via proxy; the gadget doesn't seem to work in that case. The default RSS gadget that comes with the Sidebar still works (because it is linked to IE7). Would it be possible for Hermes to also use IE7 proxy when it is set? Or a good work around would be for it to use feeds from IE7 just like the default gadget. Either of these will solve the problem. Thanks very much for this gadget.

Customizable, easy to use, and free. The best gadget on my sidebar. Need I say anything else?

Very Nice (1/3/2008)
Goes Great with whole Vista theme and especially the sidebar. Works flawlessly. This is a really neat and necessary tool. I would love the ability to email a news story to a friend or to tag it with digg or delicious or other similar tags but this definitely fits the bill. Love it. Thanks so much.
