AGEphone Gadget is probably the first fully functional SIP based softphone for Vista Sidebar. Small, smart and easy to set up the Gadget allows you to quickly make and receive VoIP calls.

AGEphone Gadget has been designed to match the new Windows Vista look. The interface is held very simple and its size is much more compact than usual softphones. Calls can be placed both by mouse and keyboard.

The softphone is fully SIP compatible. It is powered by the engine "microSIP Web Object", an extremely small and fast VoIP engine developed by ageet Corporation.

This is a free trial version for Windows Vista (32 bit, release version) supporting English, Japanese and German. Calls are restricted to 1 minute. A serial key removing the restriction can be purchased on ageet's homepage (http://www.ageet.com/us/).

Version 1.70 has a new installation routine that fixes issues with the SIP engine and Vista's UAC. There are also lots of small improvements and Direct Sound support.

Great SIP Phone (5/23/2007)
Great SIP Phone. Uses very little system resources. Setup and working in under 2 minutes Using in a Tech Support Call Center on an astrick system. Had a couple of minnor problems at first got a response from author within 12 hours with a Beta that works great. Could use some features but well worth the $9.

Vertical TeleVantage connection (3/12/2007)
We tested this with a TeleVantage PBX. Install took only two minutes. It seems work work well, but is missing a message waiting indictor, redial and mute button. Long term pricing has not been announced but their non-gadget version is about 250% the cost of EyeBeam frm XTEN which has those features. With the extra features and at a price sub $15 (not per year), could see this being a great piece of code. We would consider rolling it out for PBX users in small call centers and the like. Support for the product is essentially non-existent (no place on their web site provides support for this product and a web phone app only works if your time zone is close to =9GMT and you speak some language clearly not English). And even though we have paid for a license, one has yet to arrive. Maybe tomorrow. As it is, the price might be too high, the features a bit too few and the company's responsiveness to thin.

crippleware! (3/20/2007)
Warning: This product is useless without paying for it. Once you get it working it is certainly not worth the money!
