Amateur astronomers in North America monitor sky conditions using the Clear Sky Chart web site which provides a very detailed 48 hour color coded forecast chart on cloud cover, transparency, seeing and other factors. The gadget contains an XML database of 3338 sites organized by country, state/province and clock name. It allows any 3 charts to be previewed continuously on the sidebar. Click on any colored chart to open the site. Click on the chart name to view location in MS Virtual Earth. Undocking the gadget will increase the width to display a clearer hour by hour preview chart that shows cloud cover on the top row and transparency on the lower row. Each square represents one hour and the color runs from dark blue (excellent) to white (very poor). A red line indicates midnight. Refer to the Clear Sky Chart web site http://cleardarksky.com/csk/ for complete details on reading the CSC charts. New Ver:1.2.0.1 Includes a minor fix for the update feature due to web file name changes

Great first draft! (8/22/2007)
Indeed, this is a gadget I have been waiting for since Vista shipped. But I have a few suggestions: - I don't need 3 locations, and I bet many don't. Make the 2nd and 3rd locations optional, or make the gadget capable of running as multiple instances and limit the gadget to only one location. - It would be nice to have the other data bars - both sky and ground. - The gadget is incapable of displaying characters outside the 7-bit ASCII range - for instance, latin-1 accented characters. So you get location names with missing letters!!!
