It's okay
Not bad, but loads of room for improvment (11/24/2007)
Tell me... what is the good of encrypting a file if the original file is still on the hard disk? this would be so much better if it took the original file and securely "shredded" it so it could not be dredged up by file system utilities such as a good undelete program. If I'm encrypting something it's not so someone else could come along and undelete the thing. It works for encrypting the files but as far as I'm concerned, it's a job half done. I'd like to see some added functionality to encrypt file folders at a time as well instead of individual files only. This app could be that much better if these had been taken into consideration from the start.

Answer to entendu101's question. (10/5/2007)
The Clipboard is the Windows feature which simply remembers what you cut or copy, so that you can paste it elsewhere.

Working fine (8/22/2007)
I installed this on Vista Ultimate 32 bit and it is working fine. Some options would be nice, like "Delete original after encryption" and passphrase rules.

In Reference to Leiger40's review (5/27/2008)
X86 is the technical term for a 32-bit operating system, therefor, it will work on a 32 bit system, but you must use the 32 bit sidebar in 64 bit, I hope this helps those that his review screwed with.

Love it
You people are whack! (12/24/2007)
First off it works on both, 32 bit and 64 bit, its just the fact that you have to use the x 86 side bar on the 64 bit version of vista, however on the the 32 bit system there is no special requirements or instructions except one, when you first install it, its not just going to appear on the sidebar, you have to go to the sidebar's control panel and drag over, and sometimes just clicking the icon would make it appear, sometimes you might have to restart the sidebar, there have been times it would appear automatically but its delayed, you come out better just dragging it over from the control panel its much faster and reliable. Second, its free! don't expect it to do everything, its supposed to be simple! Duh! if you want it to be better go pay for the actual full featured program! Yes that's right there is one you would have seen it if you can read! I know, they didn't really do a good job advertising it! but there is a real version and I am not talking about some dumb gadget, a full software installation! that's compatible with this gadget! you people sound like PC Novices! by the way if you want a secure deletion program try Ccleaner, no one program is going to do it all learn to improvise I have tons of programs and each one does its own little special thing!

Correct terminology: X86 / 32bit etc (4/28/2009)
X86 is the technical term for the CPU chipset 'family' and has nothing to do with the operating system. X86 denotes the 8086 series (not the 8088) of Intel chips. The 8088 came *after* the 8086 and was released with an 8bit instruction set as the 8086 (16 bit instruction set) was deemed too expensive! The 80286 was released later and contained an on-board FPU, rather than the bolt-on FPU that could be bought as a cost (!) option on the original IBM Pc XT's etc. The 80286 had a 16 bit instruction set with a 24bit address bus. The 80386/486 came after and contained 32bit instruction sets. With the exception of the 8088, the 8086, 80286, 80386 and 80486 are therefore all classed as part of the X86 Intel family - note - no mention of any operating systems. The early X86 chips were happy to run run: PC DOS, MS DOS, Concurrent CPM, CPM, GEM, Windows etc... Therefore providing the code is written to be X86 compatible, it should quite happily run on either Vista 32bit of Vista 64 bit - all based, *in broad strokes*, on backward compatibility with the X86 Intel instruction set.

REASON FOR PROBLEMS (6/20/2007)
If you people will just read the specs: "Must use x86 Sidebar on Vista 64-bit" you will realise that it is not the gadget that is the problem but probably your computer.
The vast majority of computers you buy will have Vista 32-bit installed, and therefore it is unlikely that it will work for anyone not running the 64-bit version.
I suppose "xGeRmAnWaReFaRex" is the only person who has commented so far who has 64-bit, and therefore the only person so far to have gotten it working.
I myself am not going to download it, simply because I have 32-bit like most of you would and therefore I already know that it is not going to work.

Vista 64bit (6/28/2007)
This gadget is designed for vista 32 bit, not 64bit, "Must use x86 Sidebar on Vista 64-bit" means if you have vista 64bit you have to be running the 32 bit (84x) version of the sidebar to get it to work.
I have vista 64bit and installed the program, dident appear in the library so I closed the side bar (from the system tray as well) and lonched the 32 bit version (defult location, C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar) and found it in the library there.
Personally I was disapointed in it, tryed to encrypt two files one failed and they other dident seem to work (one .xlsx and one .docx) as well as a folder which dident seem to do anything.
