THE BLACK FRAME: The Sun is in Space, which is what the black frame is and I don't know of any way to remove that from the image in a gadget, especially while preserving the prominences.

SIDEBAR MOVIE: 2.1 adds the ability to play a movie in the Sidebar instead of just showing the current image. This uses some CPU cycles, so you probably don't want it on unless you have at least a dual core.

PLAYBACK SPEED: The movie playback supports half speed but my copy of Windows Media Player has issues with playing back at 1/2 speed (it goes black after one loop). I'm leaving in the 1/2 speed option in case it's just my copy of WMP or in case Microsoft fixes the issue, assuming it's their problem in the first place.

v2.1 Changes:

- Added movie to sidebar
- URL cache for better responsiveness when changing detectors

Takes me back! (05/08/2007)
I used to do work on SOHO's coronagraph data, and this gadget is just like being back in the break room at the Naval Research Lab Solar Physics branch, where they have the almost realtime data from each instrument playing nonstop on a bank of monitors. Thank you so much! PS It would be nice if the gadget would play the movies full time instead of just in the slide-out tray.

Close eye on the sun (08/07/2007)
As a former astronomer I can really appreciate this gadget! Back in the early '90s I took a couple of classes on solar physics. I'd never think that I would be able to keep such a close look on the sun from my very own desktop. Thanks for developing and sharing!

I like it but... (08/04/2009)
The past couple of days SideBar dies when I open this gadget to change views. If I disconnect from the internet first, I can change to a different wavelength and then reconnect to the internet and all is well. The problem is in a module named SMParse.AX. Happens in this version of Full Sun and an older one as well.

Cool, but some revision would be nice. (11/04/2008)
It's not very detailed. I realize the image has to be small, but I think it'd be awesome if you could zoom in on a certain area. Like, just have the video zooming in while it's spinning, so you can see some of the cooler stuff.

like the sun, not the box. (05/11/2007)
would be alot cooler if there wasnt a box around it. also, i wish i could download all the planets to place across the desk top.

Awesome. Love alternate views (12/01/2009)
I agree it would look better w/o box around it, but otherwise totally awesome. I love the diff views with other filters. You can see solar storms, flares, magentic loops come & go! Stunning.
